FiberNet will begin an expansion into the Kidwell’s Ridge Road area in the first quarter of 2011. FiberNet is a complete State-of-the Art fiber optic system passing 100% of the City residents and it has long been our desire to serve many in Hamblen County. The passing of AT&T legislation slowed the progress of FiberNet expansion but we must play by the rules established by the State of Tennessee. Much propaganda is promoted by Charter and AT&T, but rest assured that FiberNet clearly has superior bandwidth and reliability over the incumbent products. We do not play rate games. Our speeds are consistent ALL THE TIME and compared to the incumbents, are not burstable or based on the number of users on the network. MUS and its municipal Fiber Optic brethren consistent face legislative hurdles aimed at slandering municipal offerings and preventing other cities from enjoying such high speed broadband offerings.
FiberNet is presently leaving approximately $3 Million per year in the local economy, revenue that previously left our community for corporate profits. The City of Morristown supported the bond funding that enabled this project with and you should thank your City Council for their vision on behalf of the community. This is Your Network! FiberNet not only saves residents money, it is an important tool in economic development as we attempt to bring new businesses and industry to the Lakeway area. Each of us wants a community with quality of life and job opportunities that give our children a reason to invest their lives in East Tennessee.
Thank you for supporting FiberNet. Why would you choose anything else?
